New Manager: Ben Hickey
New Colac Golf Club manager Ben Hickey wants to secure the club’s future by increasing the number of young people on its fairways.
The 27-year-old, who had his first day in the job on Monday, said his vision for the club involved a wave of new members in the teenager-to-young adult bracket.
Hickey said he wanted to enhance awareness of what the club could offer young people and, in doing so, build on an existing group of up-and-coming golfers.
“I think a real focus for us now should be attracting younger people down to the club,” Hickey said.
“We just need to market ourselves a bit better, targeting those people and making them aware of what is available for them here,” he said.
“Whether we do that by having a night at the club designed for those younger types or even do some marketing through the footy clubs and schools.
